Sample Sewer

WE ARE CURRENTLY  HIRING FOR A SAMPLE SEWER FOR OUR DOWNEY LOCATION

OBJECTIVE OF THE POSITION

The Sample Sewer is responsible for accurately sewing and finishing first protos through production approval/fit samples within acceptable timeframes.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Work closely with fabric cutter, pattern maker, and technical design to create apparel samples of newly created designs for upcoming seasons
• Compare pattern to cut apparel samples to ensure they match, ensuring the prototype is consistent in size,measurement, and feel
• Sew the sample garment accurately using proper machinery and tools. Discuss any sewing problems with the pattern maker and troubleshoot as team for root cause analyses and corrections
• Add finishing touches and trims to sample garments (press, steam, sew labels, buttons, etc.) accurately as indicated on the pattern card and tech pack by the required deadline
• Discuss sewing techniques with pattern maker if no sew by sample is provided
• Additional responsibilities as needed, such as supporting home category and additional production projects
• Other duties, tasks and projects as assigned

REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE

• Minimum 5-10 years of experience in multiple categories in Mens, Womens, home accessories including tops, bottoms,
  jackets, bedding, and accessory items.
• Knowledge of sewing different fabrics and weights; primarily knits and wovens fabrics, variety of materials
• Extensive experience in effectively and safely operating the following sewing machinery with limited supervision, including but not limited to the following sewing machines: single needle, double needle, 4-thread and 5-thread overlock, coverstitch, flatlock, buttonhole, keyhole and bartack machines, etc. Additional non sewing machinery to complete sample such as scissors, needle/thread (hand stitching), heat press, garment heat iron, steamer, etc.

COMPETENCIES REQUIRED

Core competencies required for Sample Sewer position:

• Able to read and understand Tech Packs in English
• High level of workmanship, attention to detail, with sense of urgency and sensitive to deadlines

PAY TRANSPARENCY 

This position pays $20.00 per hour.
